Our name “Rass” is deeply rooted in the Ge'ez language (Ethiopian/Eritrean), where it signifies the essence of the head- the center of our thoughts, emotions, and our wellbeing. It also means self, and we do believe that true wellness encompasses not only the health of the mind but also a profound connection with one’s inner self. At times we carry the burdens of others to a point we neglect our own and try to pour from an empty cup. Selam Tekie, PMHNP- BC
Selam Tekie, PMHNP- BC, is a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) at Rass Psychiatry and Wellness Services in Columbia, Maryland. Selam provides holistic mental health services for patients 6 years old and up through in-person and telehealth visits in MD and Telehealth services in VA. Selam’s goal is to promote mental health literacy, to provide personalized treatments, and empowerment through knowledge/understanding. Before advancing to graduate school to specialize as psychiatric nurse practitioners, all PMHNPs initially qualify as registered nurses. While PMHNPs are distinct from psychiatrists, we have the authority to prescribe medications for mental illness such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, eating disorder and more. Our practice is rooted in the nursing model, emphasizing patient-centered, wellness-oriented, collaborative, and holistic care. Selam provides high quality therapeutic care in both English and Amharic.

Insurances accepted
Medicaid, medicaire, BCBS, united healthcare/optum, Aetna, cigna, tricare, and humana for now. If we do not accept your insurance, you are free to seek services with us on a cash basis. An initial psychiatric evaluation is $350 and follow up appointments are $175 each
